Junior Squash at the Western

Hi all. Winter is not that far away and outdoor sports will be become more difficult. For children this means more social media or more Playstation et al. All very depressing. The good news is that there is now an exciting, energetic, indoor alternative in squash. Squash is a truly great sport. It is gladiatorial in its competitive aspect, it will get the pulse racing and it is by far the easiest racquet sport to improve at. I played and lost to a 14 year old last week playing for Giffnock. The little darling had been playing only two years and now plays division one squash to a high standard. What's more he stood up to my banter with steel. Squash does that to a person. It toughens you up. The Western is launching it's junior squash programme and if you want to bring along your children you are welcome. We have three taster sessions planned as follows: On the Saturday 4th October between 4pm and 6pm. This a joint event sponsored by Lidl in aid of the STV charity appeal. The taster is free but a £5 donation to the charity is requested. On Monday 6th October and Wednesday 8th October between 4pm and 6pm. These events are free. All sessions will all be lead by Scotland's only level 4 coach, Martin Woods. We have 5 other coaches and so support is guaranteed. All coaches carry current PVG (Full Disclosures in old money) and have there own coaching (albeit varying) qualifications. If a child is interested we have follow up coaching planned starting after October week and running to Christmas. We will continue in 2015 and beyond. Details will be available at the taster sessions under no obligation obviously. To book simply send an email to me on geoff.cordwell@ntlworld.com indicating which of Saturday, Monday or Wednesday your child wishes to attend. You are welcome to watch from the indoor balcony.
